The B11<\/b><\/span> Genoa Mokume <\/b>with Serial ‘1111-0074’ is the Quarterly One of Kind<\/b> made by William Henry and finished during the third quarter of 2012<\/span>. Frames are made from Damascus Stainless Steel.  <\/span><\/div>\n

This Damascus blade is forged with twist pattern <\/span>Mokume<\/b> handle. Mokume is a forge welded combination of non-steel materials – extremely similar to damascus steel. The mokume on this knife was handmade by artisian Mike Sakmar. It is a combination of copper, nickel silver and brass all forged together and twisted to create a unique pattern that is revealed on the surface of the material. The B11 <\/span>Ruby<\/b> inlays on the button and the thumb stud. The knife is completed in sterling silver bale with braided brown leather lanyard with beads. The knife is individually numbered and comes in an attractive wood presentation box.<\/span><\/div>\n

Damascus steel was a term used by several Western cultures from the Medieval period onward to describe a type of steel created in India and used in sword making from about 300 BC to 1700 AD. These swords were characterized by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water. Such blades were reputed to be not only tough and resistant to shattering, but capable of being honed to a sharp and resilient edge. William Henry’s damascus is made from several types of steel welded together to form a billet.<\/span><\/div>\n

The patterns vary depending on how the damascus artist works the billet. The billet is drawn out and folded until the desired number of layers are formed.
